Welcome
Welcome to the course “Introduction to nuclear fuel management”
This course is intended to introduce students to the wonderful world of the nuclear fuel management, taking advantage of resources available through the Web, based on professional information from organizations like the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the World Nuclear Association, among others.
The future of nuclear power, as a major player in providing clean, safe, secure, sustainable, and affordable energy in the face of growing global demand, will be made viable through the deployment of advanced nuclear fission reactors and the associated fuel cycles. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to have qualified human capital that understands, investigates, and proposes advanced nuclear fuel cycles, as well.
This course, then, is a piece of work that contributes to this end. What is expected, at the end of it, is that the student is able to understand the different steps of the fuel cycle, is capable to find updated information and knowledge about the subject of study and has the skills to perform basic calculations of the fuel cycle.
Without further ado, I wish you once again the warmest welcome, hoping that you enjoy the course and that it will be very useful to you.
